Francocinephilia, or possibly Cinefrancophilia
Thought I’d start a blog about French cinema. The foreign cinema forums I look at are largely taken up with the latest piece of bloody, beautiful genre-bending from the far east, and even the more canonical French directors – the likes of Renoir, Truffaut and Malle (then take your pick) – seem in danger of being overlooked, or at least excessively corralled. (Godard may be the exception to this – courtesy, perhaps, of Quentin Tarantino’s express approval.)
This might become no more than a sporadic inventory of recently-viewed French films, with perhaps the occasional sad-case confession about the degree to which I am in love with some comédienne or other; but I’ll try to make it a bit more than that…
